"Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."
-Barbara Katz-Rothman
Kay
I began my midwifery education after the birth of my daughter. I had attended LaMaze classes, but still, the birth wasn’t how I had envisioned. When I read about midwives a couple of years later, I knew immediately that this was what I had needed; a woman to stand by me in labor.
I started Emory’s midwifery program in 1982 and now have been “standing by” women in labor for 25 years. I worked first in Houston in a large midwifery group, learning from other midwives. I have since worked in a birth center in Texas and private practices at DeKalb, Northside and Gwinnett Hospitals. I have never lost my original purpose of being with the woman during her pregnancy, labor and delivery. At North Fulton, I have finally found an ideal nursing staff. With their help, I am able to provide the kind of laboring support that welcomes alternative childbirth methods, such as hypnobirthing as well as water birth.

Dr. Tressa Scineaux - OB/GYN-
Alpharetta, Roswell, and Cumming OB/GYN
Delivering at North Fulton Regional Hospitals

Dr. Scineaux supports natural birth, water birth and VBAC's. She also welcomes doula's and additional support for women. She has opened her office doors for me to teach Natural Childbirth Education, Hypnobirthing and offer doula services. She has an all women staff, and women seeking care truly have options, and receive the education, support and care they deserve. She has two midwives in the office and it is a smaller practice so you get to know them all before your birth.
